Meet the Renewal Delegates #3: Tammy O’Brien – NorthShore Louisiana
My husband, Gary, and I live in the beautiful town of Covington, LA where we raised our three children now grown. Our family has increased to include a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, four grandsons and an adopted parish community where our son, Fr. Garrett O’Brien, serves as parochial vicar in the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
I was introduced to Regnum Christi in 1998 attending events hosted by the local section including monthly retreats and spiritual exercises. As a Catholic doing my best to live my faith I had a desire to fully live my baptismal call to be an apostle and evangelize but felt ill-equipped to do so. When I met Regnum Christi, it was obvious that this was the path that God chose for me to fulfill that desire he had placed in my heart. Two years later in 2000 I incorporated during a women’s convention where I experienced without a doubt that this was God’s gift to me.
The beautiful examples of my sisters and brothers in Christ encourage me and give me the impetus to offer everything I can to advance his kingdom, using my gifts while relying completely on his grace. As a Regnum Christi member I have served as team leader, Challenge retreat coordinator and LCA. Currently I am serving as spiritual guide and group leader for the Northshore section of Louisiana. In my parish I facilitate a mothers’ study group during Parish School of Religion to support and encourage them in their vocation as wives and mothers.
In Regnum Christi I have experienced “home”, a familiar, safe place full of love, joy and concern. In each and every “little yes” that I offered to God he in turn poured upon me an abundance of grace. Through the years of serving him he has drawn me closer into his most Sacred Heart. I am privileged and grateful to serve as a delegate for my section where the most incredible, faithful witnesses of our Catholic faith reside!
